货厢为罐式容器,用于装运各种液体货物的专用汽车。通常把装运油品的液罐汽车称为油罐汽车。作为货厢的罐式容器通常是长柱形的密封罐,罐的横截面有圆形、椭圆形及近似矩形三种。圆形截面罐强度高,但重心较高,通常用于运输高压液体(如液态氧和液态二氧化碳等)。椭圆形截面罐重心较低,汽车行驶稳定,采用较多。矩形截面罐的重心低,但结构强度较差,用材较多,应用很少。罐式容器内设有隔板、防波挡板或分设独立的单室,以减少汽车行驶时罐内液体波动。运输易燃、有毒或腐蚀性强的溶液,液罐汽车应采取相应的安全防护措施。装运油品的油罐汽车,排气管应引向汽车的前部,容器内表面应作防腐蚀处理,并配备静电接地和安全阀等装置。装运液化石油气、液态气体等的液罐汽车,容器为双层保温结构,内层多用防腐蚀材料制成,也可用表面已作防腐蚀处理或衬有耐腐蚀材料的普通钢板,外层用钢板。夹层内填充绝热材料。液化气体的温度一般都很低,制造液罐的材料和焊条要求耐低温。装运饮用品的液罐用无毒塑料、不锈钢板或铝板制造,有时为双层结构,以便保温。
