      化学式H2SnO3。有两种形态:α锡酸和β锡酸。它们都是二氧化锡的水合物,其通式为xSnO2·y H2O。α锡酸长期放置或加热会逐渐变成β锡酸。α 锡酸常称氢氧化锡(Ⅳ),为白色无定形固体或凝胶状沉淀,难溶于水,溶于酸、碱:
  
  α 锡酸可由锡(Ⅳ)盐或四卤化锡在室温下水解,或与适量碱或氨水作用而得:
  
  这里的Sn(OH)4就是H2SnO3·H2O,也是SnO2·2H2O。
  
  β锡酸为白色细晶固体,具有SnO2四方晶体结构,不溶于水、酸和碱。在稀的酸或碱作用下会发生胶溶作用而形成溶胶。
  
  经X射线研究证明,这两种锡酸都是含水的锡石SnO2,并不是两种异构体。它们的溶解性不同是由于粒子大小和聚结程度的不同造成的。
