扩大炼焦煤源的炼焦方法之一。用加压成型的方法生产形状均一的焦炭。型焦工艺分热压和冷压两种。热压型焦是将具有一定粘结性的煤料（或单种煤）加热到塑性温度(一般是430～500℃)后成型炭化。冷压型焦是将低挥发分的弱粘结煤或不粘结煤，也可将高挥发分煤或不粘结煤的半焦，配以适量的粘结剂，在粘结剂的软化温度(一般为70～100℃)下成型后炭化(个别也有不加热成型的)。型焦工艺在配用非粘结性煤和弱粘结性煤的比例上灵活性较大，并能生产具有一定强度的焦炭。这种工艺正在发展中。
