1840年 7月由英国议会通过的关于上、下加拿大省合并的法案。1837年，上、下加拿大两省改革运动发展成为武装反抗。反抗虽被镇压，但迫使英国殖民当局不得不改变殖民统治方式。1839年新总督德拉姆伯爵J.G.兰布顿提出《关于英属北美事务的报告》，认为上、下加拿大动乱根源之一是英裔与法裔加拿大人之间的民族纠纷。他建议上、下加拿大省合并为一个加拿大省，英裔和法裔按人口比例选举代表产生责任政府。1840年 7月，英国议会通过《联合法》。1841年 2月10日，两省正式合并。《联合法》关于议会中的代表名额分配问题没有采纳人口比例制，而是给予上、下加拿大以同等数量的代表额。两省合并，未能改变英裔和法裔对峙局面，加拿大省政局长期不稳。1867年加拿大自治领建立，加拿大省重新划分为魁北克省和安大略省。
