性质:材料吸收水分的能力,也称吸水率。以材料在蒸馏水中于一定温度浸泡一定时间后增加的质量与原质量相比的百分率表示。高分子材料及其他化工产品的吸水性因种类不同而相差很大,吸水性对材料的机械强度、电性能、化学稳定性以及热性能都有很大影响。对于一般工程材料及绝缘材料不希望有大的吸水性,有时利用材料的强吸水性制成专用制品或材料。
