此病征为卵巢无排卵,而卵泡细胞出现黄素化,患者虽体温呈双相,子宫内膜显示分泌期变化,但无受孕的可能。经腹腔镜检查在排卵后4~10日卵巢表面不见排卵孔。在LH高峰后2天,B超检查卵泡仍继续生长。在月经周期中腹腔液量,特别是腹腔液中雌、孕激素水平无突破性增高,因腹腔液内雌、孕激素水平低下,不足以抑制逆流至腹腔内的子宫内膜细胞的种植,故易导致子宫内膜异位症的发生。子宫内膜异位症患者黄素化未破裂卵泡综合征的发生率较正常妇女明显增高,故多伴发不育。是否子宫内膜异位症的病因仍有争论。
