雷波马湖为省级风景名胜区，位于凉山 彝族自治州雷波县境内，面积100平方公里，距县城47公里，距西昌和乐山各280公里，距宜宾137公里。景区由马湖、金沙江峡谷、原始密林等部分组成，是小凉山深处一颗璀璨的风景明珠。
马湖属高原大型天然深水湖泊，水域面积73平方公里。东、西、南三面为高山屏障，北面为玄武岩、石灰岩碎块堆积而成的天然石坝。湖区港湾深幽，湖岸曲折多变，湖底灰岩层光滑细腻，无淤泥，湖水四季盈盈，清澈透明，无任何污染。湖周沿岸由茶园和森林环绕，林木苍翠，湖光山色交相辉映，风光秀美绮丽。金沙江峡谷山体陡峭，江水湍急，绝壁高耸，怪石如林，极为险峻。区内为彝族聚居地，富有民族特色的村寨，历史和文化遗迹，为景区增添了情趣。
马湖景区内分布着大量原始森林，古树参天，藤蔓缠绕，地衣苔藓遍地，充满了原始古朴气息。
