又名氧化亚锡,化学式SnO,分子量134.7。暗灰或棕黑色粉末。在空气中稳定,加热时转化为氧化锡(二氧化锡),不溶于水和醇。溶于盐酸或稀硫酸生成亚锡盐,溶于浓的强碱溶液生成亚锡酸盐。有还原性。用作还原剂,制备亚锡盐,还用于电镀和玻璃工业。由亚锡盐溶液跟氢氧化钠溶液反应生成氢氧化亚锡Sn(OH)2,再加热分解生成氧化亚锡。
