形态：多年生灌木状直立草本。茎干粗壮绿色。叶长椭圆形多集于茎顶，叶形甚大，绿色叶杂有白色或金黄色的不规则斑块，鲜亮迥异于其他植物，观赏价值高。肉穗花序生于茎端叶腋间，很少开花。
装饰应用：幼株小盆栽，可置于案头、窗台观赏。中型盆栽可放在客厅墙角、沙发边作为装饰，令室内充满自然生机。
光：耐半阴，忌日光过分强烈，但光线过暗，也会导致叶片褪色。
水：喜水湿，３－８月生长期要多浇水。夏季需经常洒水，增加环境湿度。
温：喜高温，不耐寒，生长适温２０－３０℃。最低越冬温度在１２℃以上。一旦受冻则叶片黄萎、顶芽坏死。
肥：生长期每月施氮肥，促其迅速长大，３－８月每两周施１次肥水。秋后减少施肥。
土：要求疏松、肥沃、排水好的土壤。
繁殖：扦插繁殖。春夏都可进行，取１０－１５厘米长的嫩枝，插入黄沙介质中，２０－３０天生根，以后视植株大小换入新盆。
