Poly(arylene ether nitrile)s has been noted as a kind of important polymeric material which present a combination of outstanding properties such as high thermal stability, good chemical resistance and excellent mechanical properties.

(R)-2-aryl-4-hydroxymethyl-1,3-oxazolines were synthesized from L-serine methyl ester hydrochloride and aryl cyanides in three steps,including imidization,cyclization and reduction.

The preparation of aryl amides by selective oxidation of aryl nitriles using sodium tungstate as catalyst and sodium percarbonate or sodium carbonate-hydrogen peroxide as the oxidant in a methanol and water solution was studied.

The hybrid film of polyarylene ether nitrile/titanium oxide with high dielectric constant was successfully synthesized in situ through sol-gel process and was characterized by infrared spectroscop,X-ray photoelec- tron spectroscopy,scanning electron microscopy and thermogravimetric analysis.
