【来源】
为忍冬科植物山五味子的根、叶、果、树皮。
【植物形态】
山五味子 灌木，高1～2.5米。茎直立，带棕红色，小枝多数，被有粗毛，老渐无毛，具近圆形的皮孔。单叶对生，排列紧密；倒卵形，长12～21毫米，宽9～15毫米，先端钝或稍尖，基部楔形，叶缘有浅波状钝齿，叶脉于下面凸出，被毛；叶柄长3～6毫米。聚伞花序复排为圆锥状；花白色，花梗长不及3毫米；花冠管状，先端5裂，裂片钝圆；雄蕊5。核果红色.热盾色深，椭圆形，长约5.4毫米。种子1枚，长椭圆形，具5棱，表面常粘附果肉。花期夏季。 生于山野成山坡灌丛中以及林缘，路边。分布云南、贵州等地，
【采集】
果实秋季采收；根，叶、树成全年可采，晒干。根除去须根后，洗净切片，晒干。
【性味】
《昆明民间常用草药》："酸微甘，平。"
【功用主治】
①《昆明民间常用草药》："清热，解表，止咳。治头痛，周身疼痛。" ②《贵州药植目录》："清热凉血，疏风止咳。治白口疮，风热咳嗽，刀伤出血。"
【用法与用量】
内服：煎汤，3～5钱。
【选方】
治热咳：蜂蜜溶化后，将山五味子(研末)放入搅匀即可吃。(《昆明民间常用草药》)
