负性强化(negatlve relni。rcement)亦称“阴性强化”，指在特定的行为或反应发生时回避个体所不喜欢或厌恶的刺激物，从而增加该行为或反应发生的可能性或速度的过程，例如，如果学生努力学习叮避免考试不及格，那么后者对学生努力学习这一行为便起着负性强化的作用。又如，一个孩子不按时起床，母亲在床边唠唠叨叨地催促，直到孩子起床止。‘·唠叨”这令人不快的事物便对孩子按时起床行为起着负性强化作用，‘唠叨”是负性强化物。同理，若斜靠在床上可避免疼痛，那么病人就会长时间坚持“斜靠在床上”这一行为。在此例中，这一行为被更换姿势所引起的疼痛刺激所强化。负性强化不同于惩罚。参见“惩罚’，。 (梁宝勇撰金志成审)
