响水潭,位于流梅溪下游、海安镇北面3公里处,潭边有石壁,高达数丈,下有深洞。壁巅不远处是白沙堰,溪水经白沙堰从壁巅急泻而下,形成瀑布。石壁下溪水积而成潭,最深处约4米,面积400平方米。瀑布声震入壁洞,产生各种奇妙的回音,十分 悦耳。滂沱雨后,瀑急声壮,如鼓似雷,响水潭因此得名。 潭中涟漪荡漾,波光粼粼。东西两侧的峭壁上,藤蔓盘结,草木葱茏。正面石壁上银流飞飞泻,状似玉龙,涨水时,如巨帘悬挂,珠飞玉溅;水干时,壁顶上露出的岩石,光滑发亮,可供游人坐息。曾有无名氏以响水潭作对,写出上联“响水潭中潭水响”方证下联。但因是回文句,很难对上,时至今日,能对上的寥若晨星。此上联句为响水潭增添了雅趣。
