| 远志科 Polygalaceae 双子叶植物纲蔷薇亚纲的一科。草本、灌木或乔木。单叶互生，稀轮生，全缘，无托叶。花两性，左右对称。组成总状、穗状或圆锥花序；萼片5，不等大，里面2枚大，呈花瓣状；花瓣5或3，不等大，最下1枚呈龙骨状，顶端常具流苏状附属物；雄蕊5＋5，常减为3～8；花丝常合生成鞘；子房上位，（2～5）室，每室有胚珠1颗。蒴果、坚果或核果。共11属1000种左右，广布于全世界，以热带和亚热带最多。中国有4属48种，南北均产，尤以西南和华南最盛。代表种远志为多年生草本，叶线形，偏侧状顶生总状花序少花。分布于东西伯利亚至中国东北、华北、山东、陕西和甘肃。皮为中药远志，又称远志筒，含远志皂苷及糖，能化痰、安神，对慢性支气管炎有作用。
