中国的钒资源,总保有储量V2O52596万吨,居世界第3位。钒矿主要产于岩浆岩型钒钛磁铁矿床之中,作为伴生矿产出。钒矿作为独立矿床主要为寒武纪的黑色页岩型钒矿。钒矿分布较广,在19个省(区)有探明储量,四川钒储量居全国之首,占总储量的49;湖南、安徽、广西、湖北、甘肃等省(区)次之。钒钛磁铁矿主要分布于四川攀枝花-西昌地区,黑色页岩型钒矿主要分布于湘、鄂、皖、赣一带。钒矿成矿时代主要为古生代,其他地质时代也有少量钒矿产出。
