性质:白色至浅红色结晶性粉末。熔点69.5℃,沸点272.5℃。易溶于乙醇、乙醚、苯、氯仿和石油醚,1份本品约溶于200份水。

制备方法:由吡啶与三氯化铁反应而得。取70g无水吡啶与13g无水三氯化铁混合,在封管中于300℃加热反应约35h。冷却后,反应物固化为红黑色结晶,打开封管,用少量热水洗出固体物的红黑色溶液。用乙醚萃取除去油状不纯物。用碳酸氢钠中和后,用蒸汽加热除去过量的吡啶。然后将混合物调成强碱性,用蒸汽蒸出2,2'-联吡啶。蒸出物酸化后蒸发浓缩,再加氢氧化钠,用乙醚提取,除去乙醚得粗品。粗品用乙来重结晶、活性炭脱色即得纯品。另外,由α-甲基吡啶[109-06-8]与高锰酸钾反应,经提纯处理也可制得该品。

用途:该品为分析试剂,用于检定亚铁、银、镉、钼,作氧化还原指示剂。
