苏联航天员。1930年10月 5日生于基辅州乌津镇，1951年参军，1954年从军事航空学校毕业后在空军服役。1960年被选为航天员。1968年毕业于茹科夫斯基空军工程学院。1962年8月12～15日，他驾驶的"东方"4号飞船同"东方" 3号飞船（见"东方"号飞船）一起完成了编队飞行。1974年7月3～19日，他作为"联盟"14号飞船(见"联盟"号飞船)的船长实现了第二次空间飞行。"联盟"14号飞船入轨后两天与1974年 6月25日入轨的"礼炮" 3号航天站（见"礼炮"号航天站）对接成功。这个对接的轨道复合体在太空持续飞行15昼夜。波波维奇获齐奥尔科夫斯基金质奖章、列宁勋章和红旗勋章。他的著作有《航天纪事》(1962)和《黎明起飞》(1974)。
