长江新螺段白暨豚国家级自然保护区
位于湖北省供湖、蒲圻、嘉鱼和湖南省临湘四市县的交界处，面积13500公顷，1987年经湖北省人民政府批准建立，1992年晋升为国家级，主要保护对象为白暨豚及其生态环境。
白暨豚仅产于我国长江中下游，现存数量不足200头，是世界上最濒危的淡水鲸类和我国一级重点保护野生动物。本区地处新滩口至螺山的长江江段上，全长135.5公里。该江段位于江汉平原的南部，属亚热带季风气候。江段水面宽阔，河道迂回曲折，浅滩、江心洲发育，饵料丰富，生境良好，是白暨豚最集中分布区之一。该保护区的建立对保护和恢复白暨豚种群具有重要作用。
