| 红豆树 Ormosia hosiei 蝶形花科红豆树属常绿乔木。因种子皮色鲜红而得名。分布在中国四川、湖北、江苏、浙江、陕西、福建等省的海拔650 米以下低山丘陵、河边及村庄附近。边材淡黄褐色，易受虫蛀，利用价值不高；心材深褐色，坚硬有光泽，是上等家具、工艺雕刻的珍贵用材。树高可达26米。小枝绿色无毛。奇数羽状复叶。圆锥花序顶生或腋生，花白色或淡红色。荚果木质，卵圆形或卵状椭圆形（见图）。喜光，幼树稍耐庇荫。适生于年平均气温18～20℃，年降水量1200～1800毫米的地区。在酸性土、石灰性土都可生长。主根明显，主、侧根发达，有根瘤菌。播种前温水浸种，再置冷水中浸1～2天。1年生苗高40～50厘米可出圃造林。
