      若磁场的旋度为零,则这个磁场称为无电流场,又称势场。无电流场是无力因子 α为零的无力场的一种特殊情况。其磁场能量处于最低能态,磁力线无扭曲。目前日冕磁场的实测数据很少,几乎完全依赖于理论计算。虽然大于 2.5个太阳半径R的日冕区,由于太阳风对磁场的扰动,不能认为是势场,但对于小于 2.5R的内冕区及其中的活动区精细结构而言,至少可近似地看作势场。特别对小尺度日冕磁场结构,如冕流和极羽、日珥甚至冲浪,计算结果和观测资料都比较符合。这也说明,一般的日冕扰动是缓慢演化的,能持续几天或更长的时间,在短时间的电流出现并消失以后,立即又恢复到势场形态。甚至在耀斑发生并把日冕低层和色球高层的扭曲磁场的能量急速释放之后,日冕磁场又立即恢复到无电流状态。所以,只要活动区不是处于急剧上升或急剧下降阶段,势场模型还是适用的。
  
  计算结果表明,只有在相当大的日冕电流影响下,日冕磁场才会与势场有较明显的偏离。因此,日冕势场形态和日冕密度结构的一致,并不排除在小于 2.5R的日冕低层和色球区域内可以存在不大的电流。
