植物形态：多年生蔓生草本，长达2米以上。折断后有乳汁，全体被软毛，地上茎常缠绕他物上升。叶对生，具柄，长1~6厘米，宽4~8厘米，基部心脏形，先端锐尖，全缘，表面绿色，背面白绿色，幼时被柔毛。花绿白色，腋生总状花序，萼5深裂，花冠5裂，副花冠短，呈环形；雄蕊5枚，花药箭形，先端有心脏形薄膜，花粉快每室1个，雌蕊1枚，子房上位，由二个离生心皮组成。骨突果呈角状，种子多数，扁卵形，边缘呈翅状，上端着生多数白色绢丝状毛。 生态分布：产我国南北各地；多生于山坡林边或沟谷林中。 药用部分：果壳、种子、茎、叶入药，冬季采种子，夏季采茎、叶。 用途：果壳性味咸、平。能软坚，清肺化痰，定惊，止血，治肺风痰喘，损伤出血等症。全草性味甘、微辛；一说淡、平，无毒能补气，益精，发奶，治虚弱白带有效，并适用于治痨伤及其他气虚，虚损诸症。有风寒外感的应先解表后用。亦治牛、马、猪乳汁不通。叶捣烂敷肿毒及蛇虫毒，子敷金疮能生肌止血。用量：果壳8分~3钱，全草1~2两。
