An Elementary Study Plant Arrangements with Pavilions and Corridors in Guangzhou Gardens

As a unique building style,corridor plays an important role in traditional buidings in China.

And corridor has also found a wide application in campus architecture for its distinct function in traffic organization and space exchange.

It illustrates conception of “gray space” and introduces “gray space” of traditional architecture including kiosk and porch, discusses its treatment and meaning to modern architecture, and analyzes its application in modern architecture through specific example, which to well use “gray space”.

Based on the thorough survey of three traditional private gardens in suzhou,this paper describes the forms of verandas in gardens from different aspects,analyses the functions of verandas in the spatial construction of the gardens,and suggests the potential reference for the contemporary landscape design.
