| 炎帝 中国传说中部落联盟首领。据传说，昔少典氏娶有蚧氏，生黄帝、炎帝。黄帝居姬水流域（今陕甘青地境的古齐家文化区域），炎帝居姜水流域（在今陕西岐山、武功附近注入渭水），故黄帝为姬姓，炎帝为姜姓。历史上往往炎黄并提。 传说炎帝以火德王，故称炎帝。战国以后有些学者认为炎帝即神农氏，奉炎帝为农神，这可能是因为炎帝与农业部落有关。炎帝部落定居在西北高原一带，后来东进，在阪泉（今河北涿鹿东南）被黄帝击败后，两个部落合作，结成强大的炎黄部落联盟，战胜了它们的共同对手——蚩尤。
炎帝、黄帝并不是一个个具体的人，而是一个历史时代的化身。当时处于原始社会瓦解和阶级社会形成时期，社会经济和文化迅速发展，部落战争和民族融合频仍。炎黄部落的进一步融合使其名声更为显赫。随着历史的发展，炎帝、黄帝便人格化成为传说中的华夏族的首领，代表中华民族的祖先。 |
