| 水橇运动 water skiing 用摩托艇直接牵引运动员在水上踏橇滑行的水上运动。水橇运动产生于20世纪20年代法国沿海地区，但也有人认为1924年已经出现于美国的长岛海峡。这项运动在第二次世界大战后得到了普及和提高。1949年举行了第一届世界水橇运动锦标赛。60年代在中国的少数地区开始有水橇运动。1975年在中国第三届全国运动会上，曾进行过水橇表演。水橇是一对细长木板或玻璃纤维板，长1.70～1.85米，宽16～17厘米。水橇上有固定的橡皮鞋。水橇前端稍微向上翘起，普通水橇底部有一条龙骨，以提高滑行的稳定性。运动员两手抓住一个木质握把，握把连有一根长约23米的绳子，绳的另一端系在摩托艇上。为了安全起见，在滑行时运动员须穿救生背心和滑行服。水橇的滑行是在水中开始的，运动员先蹲在水橇的尾部，使水橇稍向上翘起。当摩托艇加快牵引速度时，运动员便可站起，这时两臂伸直，两膝微屈。水橇比赛有障碍、跳跃和花样技巧滑等多种项目。
