该型号是我国对轮式装甲突击炮最早的尝试，资料称作87式100毫米6x6轮式自行反坦克炮，该炮在wz551底盘上面安装一门86式100毫米滑膛反坦克炮及装甲炮塔，是我国第一代轮式装甲突击炮。炮塔外廓较高，装甲倾角较小，安装有88系列主战坦克上发展而来的车长指挥塔和炮长观瞄火控装置，在炮塔前部两侧各装有4具烟幕弹发射器，仅正后方装有栅状防护栏。底盘没有作大的改动，因为重量的增加，机动性相比wz551系列有所下降，防护能力也不足。该型号最大的缺点在于：100毫米滑膛反坦克炮威力不足，虽能发射尾翼稳定脱壳穿甲弹，但仅能对战后第二代主战坦克造成威胁，无法应对普遍装备复合装甲和反应装甲的现代主战坦克；另一方面因为采用轮式装甲人员输送车作为底盘导致火线高，外形尺寸过大，重量的提高造成防护和机动能力下降。虽然该型号有些不尽人意之处，但该型号最大的功劳在于填补了此类装备的空白，作为我国轮式装甲突击炮的先行者，为快反部队提供了急需的火力支援车和借此演练了新战法。
