| 磁铁矿 magnetite 成分为铁的氧化物(Fe3O4)的矿物。含铁量72.4％，是重要的铁矿石矿物，有时可直接用于平炉炼钢。若伴有钛、钒、铬等元素，可综合利用。可作为中药，具镇静安神功效。等轴晶系，晶体磁铁矿石标本常呈八面体，菱形十二面体。集合体呈块状或粒状。铁黑色，半金属光泽，莫氏硬度5.5～6.5，比重5.2。具磁性。分布广，有多种成因，如瑞典的基鲁纳为典型的岩浆矿床，智利的拉科磁铁矿是与火山作用有关的含铁矿浆直接溢出而形成。主要是由规模大、品位较低的沉积变质作用形成的，它常与赤铁矿一起产出。在海滨或河床中也常富集。
