| 集装箱船 container ship 载运集装箱的运输船舶。集装箱船载运能力通常以装载6.096米／标准箱（TEU）数计算或用2×TEU即12.192米／标准箱（FEU）计算，也可以用船的载重吨位计算。集装箱船具有装卸作业快、停港时间短和货损小的特点。当陆域有适宜的装卸、运输与管理条件时，可实现快速的门到门的运输作业。1957年美国将一艘货船改装成世界第一艘专用的集装箱船，其装卸效率数倍提高。集装箱船已发展到每船可装4000余箱（TEU）。集装箱船外形狭长，单甲板，货舱舱口大，上层建筑布置在船尾或中后部，使甲板面集中，以便于集装箱堆放。货舱内有固定格架，便于集装箱稳定放置。甲板上通常放置2～4层箱，舱内有3～9层，码箱时重箱在下层，轻箱或空箱在上层，以求较好的船舶稳性。部分货舱用于装载集装箱，部分货舱用于装载普通件杂货的集装箱船称半集装箱船，也是一种适应性较好的多用途船。
