用简便器材和简易方法测绘略图、要图的一种作业。通常在分队指战员现地侦察敌情、地形和调查行军路线时采用。如测绘地形略图、敌情侦察图、阵地写景图等。其特点是：内容简明，重点突出，迅速及时。测图步骤是：勘察测区，确定比例尺，选定测站位置；标定图板，测绘地物、地貌和战术目标；注明标题和比例尺。测图时，一般在一两个测站上，以直尺测定目标方位，用目测、步测、臂长尺或望远镜测定目标距离，结合光线法、交会法或导线法测定目标位置，目估地貌形态并描绘于图纸上。要求地物相关位置基本正确，地貌形态与实地基本相似。
