通过对六朝建康自然环境的考察,并结合唐人温庭筠等人诗文中对建康风物、掌故和地理环境的记述,《西洲曲》中的"西洲"、"南塘"等地点应该在建康附近,这首杰出的民歌亦应产生于六朝建康地区,描写的是发生在秦淮河畔的爱情故事。
