位于王夏公路约10公里处，距县城17公里，是一潭构造成因的断崖地形之湖盆。湖面海拔三千米左右，呈狭长形，湖滨周围怪石嶙峋，虬松四出。湖南北长约350米，东西宽约百米，面积约有五十余亩。湖滨地形开阔，外围前塬是平坝草甸，三面环山，山上森林密布，林中百鸟群集，湖中鱼类繁生，湖畔野草丛生，百花盛开，湖光山色，令人陶醉。人们形容达宗湖象一颗镶嵌在密林幽谷里的明珠，在高山峡谷之巅放射着耀眼的光芒！ 达宗湖是附近群众尊奉的“神湖”之一，湖畔前塬、箭杆林立、经幡飘舞。每逢六月，各地香客络绎不绝地来到这里朝圣插箭。这时，整个山峦香烟缭绕，海螺声声，响彻云霄。男男女女手转经轮，口诵经文，按顺时针方向绕湖三周，然后投掷宝瓶，祭祀神湖，以求神灵保佑，祈愿五谷丰登，人畜两旺。 达宗湖不仅是高原优良的牧场，也是水鸟群集的天然乐园。
