： 根呈圆锥状或纺锤形，直径l～5cm，长约至25cm，有的具分枝。外皮呈褐色至黑褐色。粉质，断面较平坦，黄白色，气微。性平，味微辛、甘；有大毒。
【植物形态】
： 多年生草本，高约20cm，含白色乳汁。根粗大，肥短，近圆锥状，形如萝卜，外皮黑褐色，内面微黄白色，根顶部平截，有多数顶芽，陆续抽出地上茎。茎有的带红色。叶互生，常密集枝端，叶片条形，长2～3cm，宽约4mm，主脉突出。春末开黄绿色花，茎顶抽出5～8条花序，每枝有1～3分枝，分枝基部有4～5片叶状苞片，分枝顶端各生一杯状聚伞花序，总苞黄绿色，有4～5裂片，形如花瓣。
