An Analysis of Land-use Change in Changchuan Watershed, a Soft Sand-Rock Area at the Middle Reach of Yellow River;

Based on existing research findings and related data available,scenario analysis was carried out of the Changchuan Watershed in the feldspathic sandstone area in the middle reaches of the Yellow River to explore effects of different erosion control strategies and the "Grain for Green" strategy on soil erosion.

Field experiments were carried out in farmlands under different land uses,such as paddy, banana,and vegetable cultivation,at Wuchuan catchment,Fujian Province.

The economic development of the areas within Chuanjiang valley from the prosperity of the shipping of Chuanjiang is tentatively explored.

MapInfo, ARC/INFO workstation and GIS ArcView were used to establish agricultural non-point source pollution database in Wuchuan watershed, including boundary, landuse current position,water system, topography, etc.

According to the actual land use in 2000,the average rainfall of many years,combining the indexes of water storage in sub-region 2 of the first pair of districts of loess hilly and gully regions,the potential indexes of rainwater resource utilization are determined,the potential are calculated,and the development degree of rainwater resources in Sanchuanhe River basin is analyzed and appraised.
