【货币掉期的信用风险程度】当货币调期交易的一方违约，交易的另一方将承受比利率调期更大的信用风险，其原因是:(l)汇率风险较利率风险为大，因为汇率波幅比利率波幅更大。(2)货币掉期因本金要交换，故交换的资金量比利率掉期的交换资金量大得多。(3)货币掉期比利率掉期流动性更低。货币掉期的信用风险大致有三种情况:一是现行市场的汇率低于原掉期时的汇率水平，非违约方将造成汇率损失。汇率愈高，其损失愈大。二是现行市场的汇率与原掉期时的汇率水平相一致，非违约方可以重新成交一笔货币掉期而不会产生任何汇差损失。三是现行市场汇率高于原掉期时的汇率水平，非违约方可以从中得到额外的汇差收益。因此，货币掉期的信用风险将依现行市场的汇率水平而决定其风险程度。一般来说，支付贬值币种的掉期交易方的风险大于支付升值币种的掉期交易方。货币掉期除了承受汇率风险外，货币掉期的两种货币市场利率水平肯定已发生了变化，其风险程度同利率掉期的信用风险程度相似。如果交易一方交换后的利率高于现行市场的利率水平，此时恰恰交易另一方违约，那么交易一方将有很大的利率风险。
