为禾本科植物芦苇的嫩茎。植物形态详"芦根"条。

夏、秋采取。

含纤维素38.64～40.98%，戊聚糖17.27～19.66%，木质素32.42～30.36%，灰分2.20～2.00%，水分9.47～7.00%。
【性味】
甘，寒，无毒。
【归经】
入心、肺。
【功用主治】
治肺痈烦热。(性味以下出《纲目》)
【用法与用量】
内服：煎汤，0.5～1两(鲜者2～4两)。
【选方】
治咳有微热，烦满，胸心甲错，是为肺痈：苇茎二升(切，以水二斗，煮取五升，去滓)，薏苡仁半升，槐仁三十枚，瓜瓣半升。细切，纳苇汁中，煮取二升，服一升，当有所见吐脓血。(《千金方》苇茎汤)
