食蚜蝇科昆虫的 1种。分布于黑龙江、吉林、辽宁、甘肃、河北、江苏、浙江、江西、四川、福建、广东、广西壮族自治区、云南、西藏自治区；日本、印度、欧洲、北非、澳大利亚。体较狭,长8～11毫米。两侧略平行，第2腹节端部较宽，腹部两侧缘不具边框,向腹缘下垂。眼裸，雄性两眼相接。整个头部除头顶三角棕褐色外，余均棕黄色，粉被灰黄；额具黑毛，颜具黄毛。中胸背板绿黑色，粉被灰色，亮黑色纵条4，中间1对不达背板后缘，外侧1对较宽。小盾片黄色，具黑色,前、后缘及侧缘有黄毛。足棕黄，基节与转节黑色。腹斑变异很大，大部棕黄色，第2、3背板黑色后缘较宽,第4背板后缘棕黄色，各背板中央有一条细狭黑色横带，达或不达背板侧缘,第5背板大部棕黄色。幼虫捕食棉蚜以及其他各种蚜虫。
