Applications and selection of access points in the Descriptive Cataloguing Rules for Western Language Materials(Revised and Enlarged Edition);

This paper introduces the access points of western language books include ISBN,responsible author,title,subject headings and class number.

The paper has proceeded from users retrieval requirements and standard description and discussed problems in setting up necessary access points of added title on Field 540 by the fact of tittles.

Based on the requirements of multiple element search of Machine-Readable Catalog in ILAS system,the fabricating methods of search points for the disks attached with books using flexibly CNMARC form has also been put forward through some examples in this paper.

This paper introduces the problems in the facture of series name search point in the catalogue, analyzes the reason of the mistake and points out the correct facture method.

Cataloging work should "put people based and catalog for utilization",meeting readers demands of the time efficiency to new books,and supplying readers with as retrieval-points as many possible.

In this article,starting with the most-used retrieval channel,the author expounds the choice of retrieval-point of Chinese periodicals CNMARC,and puts forward the best-set of retrieval-point in cataloging,to make full use of the multi-retrieval function.
