中国国家经济信息中心于1987年建成的国家宏观经济数据库系统。它是利用现代信息技术和科学管理方法，对各种宏观经济时间序列数据进行采集、加工、存储和检索的信息管理系统。宏观库拥有工业、农业、财政、金融、商业、能源、交通等20个类别的计划和统计指标4万多项,存储了国家和省市两级不同年度、季度、月度的宏观经济时间序列数据约250万笔，主机和微机各拥有3万多条语句的软件,是国际上最大的宏观库之一。采用国家和省市两级分散式的管理方法进行管理。中国国家经济信息中心还建成了人口库和国家条例库，正在建设固定资产投资项目数据库、国际收支数据库、国家经济文件文献数据库。中国国家经济信息中心还建成一套可对数据库进行多种操作、分析、预测的应用系统。宏观库的建立对推进信息社会化和社会信息化起着重要的作用。
