中国地质专业图书馆，隶属中华人民共和国地质矿产部。前身是1922 年在北京建立的 地质调查所图书馆。1956年正式组建为全国地质图书馆。1958年《全国图书协调方案》将该馆 定为第一中心图 书馆委员会成员馆。1987年与全国地质资料馆、地质情报所合并为中国地质矿产信息研究院。截至1990年底，馆藏书刊37万册。其中外文书刊占全部藏书的75％，地质学及有关专业文献占全部藏书的90％；所收期刊较为系统完整；国外地质调查机构的系列出版物较为丰富。该馆负有对地质矿产部系统各图书馆进行业务指导的任务。与64个国家的400多个单位建立有书刊交换关系。下设4个业务部门,从事业务工作的人员为65人,其中具有高级职称的11人,中级职称的38人。北京地区长期使用该馆藏书的读者有2775人,发放集体借书证359个。对全国开展函借和复制业务，并与美国、澳大利亚、加拿大等国的地质图书馆进行馆际互借。该馆已建立中、外文地质文献数据库和计算机检索系统，中文地质文献库已拥有 6万多条记录。开展定题服务和回溯检索服务。主要出版物有《中文科技资料目录·地质学》(双月刊)、《国外科技资料目录·地质学》(月刊) 、英文季刊《中国地质文献摘要》(Abstracts of Chinese Geological Literature)、 《中国地质文献目录》等。
