Water quality deterioration of Jianghan lake group indicates the damage of lake ecosystems which has affected the wetland functions.

The influence of human activities on the swamping of Jianghan lake groups is discussed as follows: The siltation of the lakes has been accelerated since plants in those lakes were destroyed as a result of human activities; Reclaimed land from lakes results in lake shrinking.

It is considered that rebuilding the link between the lakes and the rivers is very important,and 13 lakes of the Jianghan Lake Group were selected for the present study.
