UG的主模型一般指设计室设计人员创建的零件模型。工艺室、结构分析室、描图员、总装车间的工程人员进行的后续操作所采用的模型均是这一模型的"引用"。其主要作用为分离数据。见下图：
通常， 非主模型的part文件名多为零件名称的衍生，如***_cam.prt；***_dwg.prt……其中以描图员产生的***_dwg.prt尤为多见。步骤如下：
Step1： FileàNew, ***_dwg.prt, 要设定为"No Master Part"
Step2: 指出相应的主模型:
Step3: 自动生成装配结构, 并设置Layer 1 = work， 如实体在其它层上， 自己要修改层的设置。
Step4: ApplicationàDrafting, 开始画二维图。
