【正方形图】以正方形面积大小表示统计指标数值大小的图形。这种图形可以用来比较土地面积、国民生产总值、销售额等统计指标。绘制方法是:先将各指标数值开方，求其平方根;再以正方形边长若干代表平方根若干，根据边长，即可绘制正方形图。例如，中国外汇储备1979年为8 .40亿美元，1992年为194.43亿美元，8.40的平方根为2.898，194.43的平方根为13.94，然后以正方形边长1厘米代表平方根2 . 898，则1992年正方形边长应为4 .82厘米，根据此边长绘制正方形即得。
