| 国际印度洋考察 International India Ocean Expedition 一项由多国家、多船只对印度洋进行多学科协调的大规模调查研究活动。从1959年开始，到1965年结束。1957年由海洋研究科学委员会发起并组织，1962年改由政府间海洋学委员会负责协调，海洋研究科学委员会保留学科咨询任务，世界气象组织和联合国粮农组织进行协作。13个国家共派出考察船40多艘参加调查，另有10个国家和地区派人参加考察，共完成了180个航次 。 考察了印度洋上西南季风及其天气系统；发现了新海山；了解到南纬15°附近冷涡的锋面以及东印度洋水团的分布；发现了东经90°海岭，它北起北纬10 °，南至南纬32°，长达6000多千米，离海面深度为1800～3000米。这次考察取得了大量的资料，汇编成一系列印度洋图集，主要的科学成果汇编成8卷出版。 |
