四祖优波鞠多尊者。吒利国人也。姓首陀。父善意。年十七出家。二十证果。随方行化。魔宫震动。魔波旬俟尊者定。密持缨络縻于祖颈。祖出定知魔所为。乃以人狗蛇三尸化为华鬘。酬奉波旬尸蛆臭秽。波旬厌恶。尽己神力不能去。乃趋梵王求去尸秽。梵王曰。此十力弟子所作。我不可释。汝须归心尊者。为说偈曰。若因地倒。还因地起。离地求起。终无是理。波旬乃哀露忏悔。尊者谓曰。汝可口自唱言归依三宝。魔王合掌三唱归依佛归依法归依僧。华鬘悉除。波旬大喜作礼说偈曰。稽首三昧尊。十力圣弟子。我今愿回向。勿令有劣弱。作礼而去。尊者每度一弟子。以一筹置于石室。其室纵十八肘。广十二肘。充满其间。以法付提多迦偈曰。心自本来心。本心非有法。有法有本心。非心非本法。付法已踊身虚空作十八变。却复本座。跏趺而逝。提多迦以室内筹用焚师躯。收舍利建塔供养。当此周平王之世也(正宗记)今住持以方丈曰筹室者取此
