物种特征:描述：体小（15厘米）具黑白色条纹的啄木鸟。下体无红色，头顶灰色；雄鸟眼后上方具红色条纹，近黑色条纹的腹部棕黄色。亚种nagamichii少白色肩斑，omissus, nagamichii及scintilliceps背白具黑斑。 虹膜－淡褐；嘴－灰色；脚－绿灰色。 叫声：尖厉的ki?ki ki ki rrr…颤音。 分布范围：巴基斯坦、中国、东南亚、婆罗洲及苏门答腊。 分布状况：分布广泛但并不常见，见于各类型的林地，可至海拔2000米。亚种doerriesi为中国东北的留鸟；scintilliceps在辽宁及华东；nagamichii在华南及东南部；szetschuanensis在华中；omissus在西南；obscurus在云南南部；semicoronatus在西藏东南部；swinhoei在海南；kaleensis在台湾。 习性：同其他小型啄木鸟。
