A phenomenon is found that mercury in groundwater is characterized as the short -term and impending anomalies and later change in period of continual occurrence of strong earthquakes through study on 5 earthquakes with M S≥6 0 earthquakes occurred in Yunnan Province and the sino-myanmar bordering region from May 6th,1995 to February 3th, 1996.
