喜马拉雅山脉中段海拔8000米以上高峰。中国对外开放山峰之一。位于西藏自治区聂拉木县境内,海拔8012米，东距珠穆朗玛峰120公里。山势雄伟,峰体周围超过7000米以上的高峰有5座。山峰终年积雪,南坡雪线高度达5000米,北坡6000米。冰川面积达789.75平方公里,长度超过10公里的冰川有4条，最大者为野博康加勒冰川，长13.5公里。朋曲发源于此。1964年5月20日中国登山队许竞等10名队员第一次登上顶峰，同时中国登山科学考察队对希夏邦马峰进行多学科的综合考察时，于5700～5900米的野博康加勒群地层下部，发现高山栎、毡毛栎、刺栎等化石层，说明上新世以后希夏邦马峰地区约升高了2000米。
