The mainly coal-bearing stratums are Jurassic Badaowan formation (J1b) and middle-Jurassic Xishanyao formation (J2x).
下侏罗统八道湾组(J1b)为一套河流-沼泽相沉积为主的含煤碎屑岩建造,中侏罗统西山窑组(J2x)为一套以浅湖-滨湖-湖缘三角洲-泥碳沼泽相沉积的含煤碎屑岩建造。
