（流派）禅自初祖达磨至五祖弘忍为一味。弘忍之下分南北二宗。六祖慧能之宗风，行于江南，故为南宗之祖，神秀禅师之行化，盛于北京，故谓为北宗之禅。此中至后代极其隆盛者，为南宗。五家七宗之分派，亦属此下。
