以整本(套)文献的某一组成部分为对象所进行的著录。中国古代一些目录学家称之为"别裁"或"别出"。分析著录深入揭示文献中的重要组成部分，以便向读者报道和推荐，是对基本著录的补充。分析著录的结果是产生分析款目。根据标目的不同，分析款目可分为题名分析款目、责任者分析款目、分类分析款目、主题分析款目等。
分析款目通常由两部分组成：第一部分记载析出部分的项目，一般只著录题名与责任者项；第二部分记载整体文献的项目，通常包括正题名、第一责任者、版本项、出版发行项、附注项等。并记载析出部分在整体文献中的位置。
分析著录格式如下：如图左
以下是分析著录的一个实例：如图右 分析著录是揭示和宣传优秀文献的重要方法。但随着文献量的增多，很难做到对所有文献都进行分析著录。因此，分析著录主要适用以下文献：①具有重要价值的科学著作；②某一文献内包含有其他责任者(著者)的重要文献；③文献附录中包含有重要材料而又没有单行本的文献；④连续出版物内的论文⑤整套著录的丛书、多卷书。
