1.中国传统的主要以研究古代书面语言为内容的专门学问。旧时只将它看作是"小学"的一个部门﹐如今有发展成为一门有科学体系的汉语语义学的倾向。其著作大体有两类。一类是专为解释某部经典著作而写的﹔一类是搜集词语﹐分类编次﹐解释其意义的。前者如《论语注疏》﹑《孟子注疏》等﹔后者如《尔雅》﹑《方言》﹑《说文解字》﹑《释名》等。
